Air Show

We drove over to Kaneohe Marine Corps Base on the other side of the island to see the Blue Angels fly.

Luckily, I brought my photographer with me. He was able to catch some amazing photos! (thanks nate) As we came through the the check in, the Marine looked though his big bag of lenses and asked if he was with the media...

With the mountains in the background, the bay in front of us, the clouds above us and the Blue Angles flying it was a breathtaking show!

A friend gave us grandstand tickets, so we had a great view and seats! (can you tell that is two planes?)

The kids had fun - it was John's first time to see them and Emily hadn't seen them since she was a baby.

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air. . . .

Up, up the long, delirious burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or ever eagle flew —
And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

Funny....Ryan and Caleb were at an air show yesterday too! Of course the Blue Angels were with you, so my guys were entertained by the Thunderbirds! Nice pics by the way (Ryan looked at them too!).

What cool pictures! I love the clouds and the mountains, they are beautiful.

Those shows sound like fun. Will any of your kids dress up like a blue angel for Halloween in Hannah's old costume?

Simply gorgeous and the poem was PERFECT! When we were in San Francisco last year they were practicing for an air show. It was the closest I have ever gotten and it was BREATHTAKING!

That Nate is truly amazing! :) Thanks for sharing these great pictures!!

I love airshows, though I haven't been to one since I was kid. You'd think that I could make it to one since we live so close to an Air Force Base. You'd think!

I went to an airshow as a kid. We parked out in the boonies so we wouldn't have to buy tickets. There was no place to go to the bathroom, not even a bush. I had to hold it all day. For that reason, I have never been to another airshow.
