Surf News

THE place to get your wave report is at Surf News Network. You can find wave height information for every part of the island, and on the other Hawaiian Islands, too. You can also read about wind conditions, and wave conditions - mushy, smooth, or otherwise. Today you can see that the water is smooth at Waikiki beach, but perfect for beginning surfers up at Haleiwa with 2-3 foot waves, and a chance of rain in the afternoon.

Here is a map of home sweet home. I added in surfboards to show where we have attempted surfing, and yellow scuba tanks for where we have gone diving. If I was good at this computer stuff I would add in some links from the little surfboards to pictures of me not surfing at those various locations. I AM hoping to add this map to my sideboard and keep it updated with our adventures. Maybe a little hiking man for hikes, etc.

Find the little black home shape and you can see where we live. We are in the middle of the island. The North Shore is about 15 minutes from home, and Waikiki is about a half hour away to the south west. The Temple is about a 45 minute drive around the top of the island. We are up in elevation and it is a bit cooler and wetter here, with afternoon showers daily, lately. We are right in the agricultural part of the island with pinapple, sugarcane and coffee grown nearby, and rich red soil tracked into my kitchen on dirty little feet.

Can you believe we really live in such a cool place?

I'm glad it's you. You are living well in Hawaii...and I love that!

The beach.
Sitting on the beach.
That is where you would find me.

Not under water or on a surf board.

Well....actually I would be underwater because I love to body surf...well...I did love it when I was in Hawaii with my parents in 1973.

It was a blast.
The body surfing and the sun tanning.

A heavenly time.

You do live in a totally cool place! I'm glad that you and your family are enjoying it so much, that's awesome!

It is hard to believe that here we are, in our thirties, still writing notes to each other! Well, I don't really remember us writing notes, but the idea is cute! *wink* I am so grateful that we can reconnect after all these years. It's been fun to catch up and see you as a mom. *sigh* Does this mean we are old? Please say no! :)

Love you! Glad to still be your friend!!!

Wish I could live in a cool place. I'd need money to live there. I hear food is expensive.

Every time I go to a tropical paradise, I'm amazed people actually live there and wonder if they take it for granted. Glad to see you still appreciate it!

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I WANNA LIVE IN HAWAIIIIIIIIIIII

It's great that you're taking such great advantage of where you live. That would be one good thing about moving around, you'd really have to make every day count. (I sound like Titanic.)

Fun map! I'm glad you put that together so we can get a better idea of the lay of the land where you are. Can someone drive all the way around the island on one road? Have you figured out where LOST is filmed?

I think it's great that you and your family take advantage of living there and do all the fun things there is to do in Hawaii. Not like myself I've lived in Colorado all my life and I've been skiing once. Absolutely hated every minute of it. I hate being cold. But I do love to look at the pretty mountains.

What a fun map, it's fun to see all the places you hang out. Saw a commerical today showing a hip young mom taking her 3 blond girls surfing, made me think of you!
