Sandy

The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.
- Jacques-Yves Cousteau

So, last summer we got a fancy new camera, thanks to my sister's husband who decided to upgrade. The camera is kind of scary and heavy and, though Nathan pretends like it's my camera, I have really never used it. Until Spring Break 2007.

I took the serious camera with us to the beach. I pretended like I knew what I was doing, and started taking pictures. There's something about this camera that makes people think you are a professional. It was fun! I took almost a hundred pictures of the kids in the water, and of the horizon, and of the rocks, and of a boat, and of a spot in the water that was maybe a whale or maybe not.

I wish I had taken a picture of a very nervous mother in a stiff floral shirt dress straight out of the 50's who spent her entire time at the beach yelling at her kids to come closer and get over here right now or were're going home...

Nathan showed me how to use photoshop, and I've been posting pictures of that day all week. I love these sandy shots. What do you think?

You don't need to be afraid of that big fancy camera anymore your pictures look great. It's been snowing here all week so I'm very cold and very jealous.

I think your big camera is awesome. You know Roy had to go out and buy one just because Nathan had one! lol Your pictures look great, looks like you've figured it out just fine.

PS. I would probably be that stiff mom yelling at her kids, "Stop having fun! Do you think you are supposed to be having fun at the beach? You might drown, or get eaten by a shark!"

Wow. That first picture is great. You did a great job.

Isn't photoshop addictive??

Lots of fun! Did you sleep better last night?
My tip is to not watch the clock--if you see how much you're not sleeping, you'll get anxious about the fact you're not sleeping.
Everyone has bouts of insomnia sometimes. If it's only a few nights in a row that's not much to worry about.
Whenever Shazzy is out of town, I have a hard time sleeping, too. :(

Look at that sand!! I was born by the ocean, so I love sand and the smell of the sea.
Photoshop is one of the best software ever and forever.

So I watched a scary movie yesterday. I shouldn't have because every time I woke up I was afraid of the girl in the green dress. Hopefully you slept better than me and without that lovely vision.

I really need to try using Rick's new camera- but it is huge, heavy and it scares me. Plus if I dropped it, I can't afford to buy another.

Love your pictures, they are amazing!

I'm going to tell Carronin that she needs to upgrade, so I can get a better camera too.
