It's Aloha Friday

OK. You know when you wanna get away, I mean one ting

about Friday ma, da working work is ovah yeah.

Frankly, ya, I feel good man.

I work hard all week long.

I can't wait to get away, you know like down like the beach.

It's Aloha Friday, no work 'til Monday.

Doo be doo, doo doo be, doo be doo be doo be doo!
(Paul Natto, not me!)

At the Tiki Hut, we'll be spending our Aloha Fridays learning a little more about the Aloha State.

Today's word is Wahine.

I chose this word, because it is on my sidebar, and every time I notice it, it makes me happy. I thought Wahine rhymed with Online, but it turns out I was wrong.

Wahine is pronounced Wah-HEE-nay, rhymes with Al Fine (if you took violin lessons you should remember that word.)

Wahine means woman.

Hope you have a happy Aloha Friday!

Kristine - Friday is not a holiday, but lots of people finish up work early on friday - around lunch time - it is the start to the weekend fun.

Hi Biby - thanks for visiting all the way from India!

Ha Ha CJ!!!
I knew how to pronounce it, and what it meant, but it wasn't until this post that I realized I knew it. Now I'm completely bugged at how I had this piece of trivia tucked away in my head. I did have a roommate at byu from Hawaii for awhile, but I don't think she would have known that. All she cared about was tanning in her bikini in the front yard, and going to the Palace and trying to get a boyfriend. Seriously. She'd get mad at us, and tell us "You reallly need to get a boyyy friennd!!" She wasn't, shall we say, the sharpest tool in the shed.

Hi Erin and Mom, okay, in a music piece, sometimes to come to the end of the page and it says DC al fine, meaning something like, go back to the beginning and play to the fine - the end. But the end might be just after a phrase or two at the beginning of the song, not the bottom of the page. I'm sure you've seen it.
