Mahalo!

Thank you for all your fun birthday wishes, even if I had to beg, borrow, and steal to get them. Thanks especially to Steph who finished off the page. Without you, we would have all been stuck with that picture of me in red polka dots for DAYS, waiting to get to #31.

My day was wonderful - filled with sand and bbq and cake and waves and friends and fun.

The most exciting part of my birthday was an uninvited guest who decided to swing by after the party last night:

Eeeeewww! That 5" creature could really move! Oh, those were some fast legs (31 legs?) You won't be suprised to hear that we all started screaming, and kept right on screaming until Nathan came in to save us.

He put that bad boy in an empty pickle jar, and now it is hanging out in our garage. Today, Nathan fed it a rather large cockroach.

I'm feeling all twitchy just thinking about it.

Clickity Click to read a funny, if creapy, post about dealing with centipedes. I found some rather interesting folklore in the comments, such as:

centipedes travel in twos (we haven't seen the mate to our "pet" yet, waaaaaa)

squishing a centipede releases a scent that attracts other centipedes (is that true?)

headless centipedes can live for days....

Where's that spider when you need it?

Every party needs a pooper that's why we invited you...

And even though I had to check under my sheets and inside my pillow case before going to sleep, it was a great birthday!

ps not my cake, I just liked the photo

Hmmmm...I HATE party crashers. Especially slimy ones!

Glad you had a fantastic party!

Ewe! Ewe! Ewe! We had those nasty boogers in Michigan, we called them 'peedies'. I always drowned them in bug juice, guess that's a good way to not attract more by not squishing them! Yep, peedies give me the heebie geebies! As far as I know peedies don't live here....but I hear we do have scorpions! Yikes!

Shudder . . .

Where did you find the bug to begin with? Thank heavens for bug-capturing husbands!

I'm glad you had such a fun day!

Sheesh you have good bug stories. Good as in "makes my skin crawl just reading about it". Not so good for you though, I imagine. Happy Birthday, a couple days late. You can always count on Steph. :)

That is one crrrazy bug. Hope its mate caught the hint and left your house. I don't know what is worse, having the huge scarey bug or having to endure the crunch and kill it. Gasp

"squishing a centipede releases a scent that attracts other centipedes". I guess I needed to know that, but at the same time, I didn't want to know it.

I'm glad you had a happy day :)

At our house Scott would have been screaming just as loud as the rest of us. I would have had to save the day...seriously!!

Sorry about the uninvited guest to your birthday party. Thanks for the factoids about the centipede. I'll try to remember them the next time I have a run in with a 5" centipede. YIKES!!

I'm glad you had a fun day! Yikes about that centipede! I do not like creepy crawly things and would have screamed too. How sweet that your hubby came to the rescue! :)
