Back to School

$100 in school supplies. Check.
3 new outfits. Check
1 new pair of shoes. Check.
Backpack loaded with supplies. Check.
Lunch packed. Check.
Hair in ponytails. Check.

And we're back to school.

Didn't we just start summer?

This seems a little early to be back in school, but there also seems to be a little less first day of school stress and pressure.

I wonder if it's an apple for your teacher in Hawaii, or a pineapple?

And now I just have to decide what I'm going to do with John. Joyschool, or a neighborhood swap. I really want to just do the neighborhood swap, but I feel like I'll be letting down the Joyschool girls if I drop them. I don't know...

What? How can you be starting school already? Unheard of!

I always hated that we didn't get out until late-June in Canada but now it seems preferable to be able to start after Labor Day.

Amber - I prefer after Labor Day, myself! But I guess the weather is nice in Hawaii all year, so this way we can take off a few weeks in October and April and a month at Christmas.

Hmmmm....starting school at the end of July....not a bad idea (now that I'm not in school and have kids of my own!) :) When does school get out in Hawaii anyway?

Mae and I just did some school shopping the other night. Shoes, backpack, lunch bag, misc supplies - DONE!!! Mae goes back in 3 weeks and Caleb's preschool begins after Labor Day. I'm giddy with anticipation! :)

WOW! That does seem early to start! I vote for neighborhood swap also.

Can I just tell ya- everytime I read your blog I end up telling Sei that nite" I really wanna move to Hawaii..." He has family there, so it could make sense. Kinda.

wow! are you year round?

I love all your photos, they always make me wish I was on the beach sipping pineapple juice and working on my tan!

okay, never mind I see the couple weeks off in Oct, month for Christmas explanation...that doesn't sound bad.

Now that I think about it, I like the sound of your semi-year-round school schedule. That's cool to get your breaks spread out - especially if the whole district is the same and you don't have to worry about what track each kid is on.

While the end of July seems early for back to school, I have been seeing ads and even displays at Target for back to school already and it makes me excited for fall. Even though we don't have any school-aged kids, back to school time always feels like the start of a new year. And that means that yucky summer weather is on the way out!

Love ya sista!

P.S. Hey Wendy, I was reading back on your posts I missed while we were camping and I must say, that one about the lady you visit teach saying she didn't know what Nathan saw in you just about made me cry. What a crazy person! Shoot her a crusty, gas face, stink-eye for me! I can't believe anyone would say something like that to someone they just met - but to you especially.

You and Nate are such a great pair!

Sheesh, that's early. But, if you get off a whole month in December, I guess that makes up for it.

We've done a little supply shopping, but still have a ways to go. They put everything out so early. Our Wallyworld has HALLOWEEN candy out already. Gah!

That is great they get longer breaks throughout the year since it's summer all year long!

How fun to have a month off at Christmas! I guess I could do school in July with that much time off during the year! Still strange though. :)

I know! School starts for us in 3 weeks and I can't believe that the summer is really over! LOL at the pineapple for the teacher! :D
