It's Aloha Friday

We are coming up on 3 years in the Aloha state, and we love it here.

3 years is the magic number for military assignments and so it is nearly time for us to say Aloha Oi.

But it looks like we get to stay a little longer! Nathan needs to do some training before we head back to Rapid City, SD, so that leaves the rest of us here in Hawaii until at least April. And hopefully we'll be able to finish out the school year.

I've been a little frustrated about not knowing our actual move date, and I'm ready to be a bit closer to family, but who doesn't want to spend winter in Hawaii? Plus, it just gives me a little more time to learn how to surf...

on the subject of beaches... kind of...

Over at Quiet Life, Donna asked about nursing photos. If that grosses you out, don't scroll down.

About 8 years ago, we had some family pictures taken on the beach in Pensacola, FL. I love those photos. Our friend, Heidi Salgado, was our photographer. She did a great job. At one point I sat down in the sand to nurse Emily. Heidi took a picture, and it's the only picture of me nursing that I have. (or atleast the only one I'd show you)

Sydney and Nathan. NAS Pensacola. Sunset.

Non-Nursing photo. Last chance to not scroll down....

4 kids x about 2 years of nursing each = 8 years of lactation.

Several of my sisters are having babies this year, and though I don't miss the middle of the night feedings. Or the accidental wet spots. I do miss nursing. Is that wierd?

I love Emily's little arm up over her head. And her toes. And the fact that she's not actually a little baby. She is like 18 months old! In my imagination, I thought she was smaller in that picture. he he he.

Happy nursing!

I just read the comments at Quiet Life, and then I thought I'd see if you posted your picture. THIS IS BEAUTIFUL!!! I absolutely love it. I was thinking my son is too old to take a nice nursing photo (8 months) but you've just shot that theory out of the water. I'm so glad you posted this. I hope Donna sees it.

What sweet pictures - especially the Florida ones. The kids are so small in those, sniff. I didn't realize you nursed your kids until they were two, way to go! I love the nursing photo, it's tasteful and sweet.

Oh Wendy....that is perfect.

I absolutely love it. I also love her body language and yours. The light on your backs is lovely.

I love it all. It's one of the most wonderful nursing shots I have ever seen.

Thank you so much for sharing it!!!

Hi Wendy! I found you through the Quiet Life blog. I love the beach shots. I kinda suspected you might be LDS when you mentioned Rapid City. I kept reading and my suspicions were confirmed. :o) We're LDS too and an ex-Navy family. We are from a little town in Alabama, only about 120 miles from Pensacola. What a small world.

I would be sad to be leaving Hawaii, too. It certainly is one of the most beautiful places on this earth!

And I LOVE the nursing picture, Wendy. I don't think I have any pictures nursing any of my babies and now I feel sad about that. There is just nothing in this world that surpasses that wonderful feeling of a baby snuggled up by you nursing whether a newborn or a toddler. Makes my heart melt all over again just thinking about it...

Blessings,
Tammy ~@~

Hi again, Wendy! I'm not sure why Rapid City=LDS in my mind. Maybe it was just intuition. I also noticed you read Pioneer Woman. She is hilarious! I love her. Anyway, I hope you have a great Sunday. :o)

Beautiful pictures Wendy! The one of you nursing Emily is so sweet too!

Your family has grown up so much in 3 years. I can't believe it has been that long. I am so excited that you are coming back to Rapid City. I just talked to Roy and Terri on the phone. I am a little jealous that they got to come visit you in Hawaii. Maybe there is still time for Scott and I to make it. ;)
