Johnny Lingo Had a Cow

Last night Hannah was babysitting at Enrichment Meeting. One of the kids bit her on the hand. I was imagining it was a toddler, but it turned out to be a big kid, maybe 8 years old. Great.

Also at Enrichment, we had Hawaiian Haystacks for dinner. I have never actually eaten Hawaiian Haystacks IN Hawaii. I have had them in the past. They seem to be another favorite Mormon food item, along the lines of green jello with shredded carrots. A "Hawaiian Haystack" is a scoop of rice, a scoop of chicken in a kind of creamy sauce, some crushed pineapple, some green onions, and some fried crunchy noodle things. All us haoles in the group knew what Hawaiian Haystacks were. All the locals had no idea what to think of it...

Along with the Hawaiian Haystacks, we watched Johnny Lingo and talked about how to be an 8 Cow Wife. It was a really cute night.

Did you know there is a new Johnny Lingomovie?

Its so fun to read a new blog post from you! The meeting sounds like a lot of fun. Hawaiian Haystacks, who knew that they didn't come from Hawaii?

How funny! In my stake RS Pres. meeting a few weeks ago, we were discussing Hawaiian Haystacks (had to feed people during stake conference). I mentioned that I thought they were a Mormon concoction.....hmmmmm. We also have the new Johnny Lingo movie and love it! Good times (minus the bite on the hand)!

Heya Wendy! I have been thinking about you all day, how are you?

I have only had Hawaiian haystacks once, and it was here in MD I assumed they were just named that as an enticing way to use all of your leftovers.

I love both versions of Johnny Lingo. It is just a wonderful story over all.

I use cream of chicken soup to make my Haystacks.

I've heard about the 8 cow enrichment night and wondered if it would be fun. I love Hawaiian haystacks, that is funny that the actual Hawaiians didn't know what they were.

My MIL (not Mormon) introduced me to Haystacks when dh and I were dating. Haven't had them in a while - might have to have them again soon!
